The system upgrade at the treatment facility
includes the design of two sets of double ended 15KV switchgear
and twelve 15KV underground feeders to provide dual service
to each new plant substation. One new building was constructed
to house the one of the switchgear lineups and an existing
switchgear building renovated. Eight 5KV transformers were
replaced with 15KV primary units. The secondary 480/277V
switchboards at each location were upgraded to provide higher
amperage services to each building and process facility.
Load studies were performed at each plant building to
identify the actual demand placed on the system by each
particular load. The load data was compiled and integrated
with the expected future load growth for each building
to determine the proper size transformer to be installed.
Each of these load forms were then integrated to represent
the complete load profile for each building. The project
required detailed planning for all new equipment cutover
due to the around the clock operation of this large wastewater
treatment facility. Downtime windows where as short four
minutes at the most demanding application, the raw sewage
pump station.
The system upgrade at the treatment required major construction
around the site of a large around the clock municipal waste
treatment plant.
The environmental processes at the plant require the utmost
in reliability. Protective device coordination studies
were performed to insure all relaying and transfer equipment
performed as specified.
